Well, he is referring to the benefits of just being familiar with how they used to do it back in the day before all of the point click cut copy and paste technology that we enjoy today. Back then, it was done from tape, and by hand. Literally by hand. Meaning, you cut and patch what you wanted to sample or loop by hand from the tape itself. These two guys are so impressive. There is a reason that they are where they are in the music industry. They really know what they are talking about.
