You are right, the quality is crap, but you can see some form of eyelid-movement in Derren's left eye just as the video time changes from around 1:48 to 1:49. Looks a lot like a blink, but I can't tell 100% certainly. Besides, maybe they were allowed to blink; all he said about rules was looking away.
