Gigi Galli Big Crash Germany 2008

Gigi Galli broke his left femur in his crash on SS5 today and will undergo surgery this evening to repair the bone. The Italian crashed his Stobart VK M-Sport Ford Focus 12km from the start of the stage on a fifth-gear right-hand corner. The car stopped after a heavy impact with a tree stump on Galli's side. Medical crews were quickly on the scene and Galli was air-lifted to the Barmherzige Hospital in Trier, where he will remain tonight. Galli's co-driver Giovanni Bernacchini was also taken to hospital for precautionary checks but was given the all-clear this evening.
